Competitor Analysis and Initial Sketches

I began with looking up competitors signatures. This allowed me to understand what was working and what was common in this field already. I began sketching after. I used Iconic, Indexical, and Symbolic and three categories to create sketches.

First Six Concepts and Final Three

Those sketches eventually found their way into Illustrator. The six designs on the left were my first round final concepts. I then refined them and narrowed it down to the three on the left.

Final Concept Audience Testing and Anatomy

I revised some more and ended up with the mark shown. I tested it on an audience of about 70 people and got great results.

The mark anatomy is on the right, showing how the mark was constructed.

Final Color Concepts

This is the finalized mark in black and white, one color, and multiple colors. I chose a bright orange to make it even more active and a purple to keep it feminine.

Motion Graphic

I created a motion graphic using an unexpected movement of the final mark. This animation is playful and pops. The swish on the ponytail emphasizes is and plays to its shape.

Final Signature

The typography is in Rubrik New. I chose this typeface to match the geometric nature of the mark while still keeping it young. The purple “girls” matches the purple ponytail, linking to two clearly feminine pieces.
